Definitely a book to read.

I haven't read a novel like this in a very long time. Part historical novel as it gives some insight as to the Seminoles in 1855. Just a little. The heroine runs away from a sadistic army colonel who has raped her and wants to use her. She goes out to sea during a storm only to be rescued by a Seminole who has some dominating characteristic but treats her with respect and kindness. Quite an interesting storyline. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Love how the characters develop. I couldn't but this book down until I read it at one sitting.

I LOVED Yahola and Alika's story!! It was beautiful, thoughtful and very special. I truly enjoyed the Native American aspect, and how sex wasn't just an "act", it had meaning and power~ it truly was very special. I look forward to reading more by this author.

This book is unreal,i bought it a while back but hadn't had the time to give a review,hate to sound cliche but the book is worth its weight in gold,to give it less than 5 stars is beyond cruelty,this book is full and i mean full of info,if you own a 5.0 or if your just into them this is the book to have, if you need to buy a new battery and you actually want what came with the car vrs what some kid will sell you at autozone look for the battery section in the book, it will give you the part numbers to the battery that came with the car etc, if you want to know what kind of intake came in a 81 mustang 5.0 its in the book,of course anytime you have a book there will be some folks that are not happy with it, no matter how good something is someone wont like it, please dont be deterred by the one or 2 bad reviews,buy it with confidence.

What this book is not, it is NOT a guide to build a 6 thousand horsepower mustang,it gives some performance info on what you can do to make your car a little more snappy but its NOT a performance guide,its basically a history of the car and all the parts that came with it, what years certain things came with your car and what could fit other years etc. Ive owned several 5.0s so i fell in love with this book,my current daily driver is a 91 vert with 160 thousand miles on the original motor, i am now looking to build a new motor so this book will really come in handy with part numbers and all that, the book also has some sections that give you some awesome info like what kind of tires your car came with and also technical bulletins that were issued about the cars etc

The only con i could find is the price of the book, its not cheap but if you do some shopping around you can find it reasonable sometimes,it is worth the price they ask for but sometimes money is tight so maybe you can get your wife or girlfriend to buy it for you for your birthday, hope you enjoy it as much as i do and thank you for reading my review!!!

Oh to have had this book about $3000 ago

Now here is a book that can save you money. On the shelf behind me are about 15 books on Mustangs - Mods, Tuning, Rebuilding, Projects, Upgrades, and a complete set of Shop manuals. Many were not worth the time to read, much less the money, I took a chance and purchased a copy of The Offical Ford Mustang 5.0 book. Here is a book that covers all the years, and gives the good and bad points of each. What worked, and what did not.
A case in point - There is a lot of books out there that tell you to go out and get a set of 24# or 30# injectors as a start. This book at least give pros and cons, 19# will work just fine up to 300HP@39psi, or 330HP@60psi, using a larger injector reduces atomization of the fuel, and can cause problems with low speed driveability response, oscillating idle, and loss of fuel economy, without any HP gains.
In my case I am in the process of rebuilding a 1995 GT-40 Cobra engine for my 1986 stang, I do not expect more than 300HP with the mods I am using, so the injector may have been a waste.
This book is a gold mine of information on what went in which year, Ford Part numbers, and Ford Racing upgrade parts. There is a section on each component part, most with history, There was even a section on which parts I would need to change my '86 brakes for '87-later, with additional upgrades of which year/make Ford had larger calipers and rotors interchange with OEM brakes. This book will not tell you how to install a mod or rebuild, but at least you will know which parts you should use.
I would recommend this book to anyone about to start a project. It will save you time and money. I find I now have a lot of parts that I did not need, and should not use. The book is geared to people like me who are looking to improve their existing car/engine. but are not building a drag/strip car. A car that will perform, but still take a trip to the store, (if it make the trip a bit more fun, so be it).

The Official Ford Mustang 5.0 Technical Reference Book is a MUST!!

My boyfriend recently purchased a very shabby 1984 Mustang SVO. The next day he experienced buyer's remorse. He also explained that technical information for SVO Mustangs are hard to come buy. On a very hopeful whim, I purchased this book and gave to him as a gift. I had my doubts since there was not much SVO information I found in this book. Two days later, he told me he stayed up to read part of this book for an hour and a half and just had RAVE reviews for the information this book was giving him. He was so happy, this book went into great detail for the shock towers-which he all ready knew, the steering-which he was greatful for, and the extra-helpful aftermarket companies information to help people-like him, trying to restore (PROPERLY) a classic and rare Mustang.
Of course, now he spends all his time reading this book and working on the SVO, I really wish he had bought a Mopar so he wouldn't have to work on his car so much (lol).

Interesting Resources for Assessing Learning and Promoting Engagement for Student Learning

As a faculty for many years, I am always looking for resources related to assessment and evaluation. I teach a master's level course on this very topic and so good resources for not only helping students but informing my own educational practice is essential. I have said this before in other reviews, but Jossey-Bass is a leading publisher of educational products (I not only use them now as an educator but when I was getting my doctorate, I used a lot of resources from this particular publisher. This resource has a lot of useful charts and examples. There are also a lot of online resources that can be accessed as well besides those in the hardcopy book. There are concepts maps and rubrics, as well as information on the specific learning domains which include knowledge, application, integration, and even the caring domain (which I have to say is a new concept to me but is quite interesting since I teach nursing - a caring curriculum). There is a lot of interesting ideas including assessment and promotion of learning, implementation strategies, and information on how to collect data on student assessment and evaluation that can be used as support for showing positive outcomes that might actually be helpful to the educator for annual professional summaries (yearly performance evaluations) and promotions or tenures. While I am a fan of CATS (classroom assessment activities), this book is more about engagement as well as assessment.

About the Author
Mary Pellettieri's brewing and beverage industry career spans more than two decades. She served as chemist and microbiologist at the Siebel Institute brewing school in Chicago, where she also taught Sensory Management. Later she managed the quality program for Chicago's young, independent Goose Island Beer Company in 2000. Her background and experience made her a desirable judge at prestigious beer competitions and later as quality manager for the historic MillerCoors Milwaukee brewery. Pellettieri speaks nationally on a variety of topics in quality, sensory analysis and brewing science, including at Craft Brewers Conference & BrewExpo America�, AHA National Homebrewers Conference, American Society for Quality, and Master Brewers Association of the Americas. In 2014, Pellettieri started her own beverage consulting service and company. She makes her own beverage concentrates, contract produces elixirs for the spirits industry, and consults with large and small beer, wine and cider companies.

Attention craft brewers: Read and implement!

Great book that needed to be written! Hopefully it will be read and followed by many craft breweries (and other craft beverage and food producers), as it will take the quality of their production processes and final products to the consistent (!) and reliable quality levels that consumers deserve (and will expect in the future)!

My only complaint (took off one star for that) is the price: $95 (cover price and online price from a national association) is hopelessly overpriced. I bought new from Amazon for significantly less, but thought even that price was still high.

Disclaimer: I am a homebrewer who happens to have an interest in lab science etc and am helping out my brother who works for a real brewery spin up a QA/QC program. This book was of little value to the average homebrewer, but I believe it is a great summary and guide for professionals. Gives great plans and examples for breweries looking to step up their QC game.

The persistent highlighting of the body’s “imperfection” comes to forge a predominant aspect of the superheroic self. Such moves, originally part of the Silver Age strategy to stimulate sympathy, enhance psychological depth, and raise the dramatic stakes, developed further in such later series as The Human Fly, Strikeforce: Morituri, and the landmark graphic novel The Death of Captain Marvel, all examined in this volume. Death and disability, presumed routinely absent or denied in the superhero genre, emerge to form a core theme and defining function of the Silver Age and beyond.

Broad death and disability study of superheroes

Jose Alaniz has written an extremely ambitious work in Death, Disability, and the Superhero. The first part of the book focuses primarily on disability and the superhero while, from chapter seven on death and the superhero takes center stage. As with any work that encompasses such a broad range of thought, there is a need for some basic assumptions to be made explicit from the beginning so that readers will understand how the writer will use and interpret some concepts. Unfortunately it is precisely in this introductory area where it seemed the scope of the study prevented Alaniz from clearly linking his premises and thus set up the rest of the book. This is unfortunate because the following chapters are very well researched and presented.

While I was initially more interested in the disability studies sections rather than those addressing death and mortality, I felt the latter chapters were better organized and presented. Often in the early chapters there were analyses which were quite effective as far as they went but tended to overlook intersections where additional factors also come into play. For instance the contrast between disabled and super-abled bodies could benefit from also addressing racial and gender issues. Let me say, however, that I don't consider this a particularly significant negative since the book touches on so many aspects of death and disability studies. One of the most valuable aspects of this work will be the future scholarship it will help to launch, furthering analyses begun here as well as filling gaps between what is and is not addressed here.

I anticipate revisiting most if not all of this book again in the future and expect to find it referenced widely in future research. This may not appeal to every casual comic fan, which is understandable, but I think many will also find new avenues into their favorite comics through the act of wrestling with some of this material. Scholars in the death and disability fields as well as popular culture and comics/graphic novels studies will find many useful points to ponder and address in future work.

This book is a beast. A heavy brick of text with a massive amount of research behind it, it's not for casual comic book fans. But if you're passionate about comic books and superheroes as a serious art form, a reflection of culture as much as any other fiction genre, this is a book for you. Alaniz starts out compiling themes and commentary on Golden Age superheroes and the ideals of culture they represented at the time. But the real meat is in his own research and take on the Silver Age of comics, the rise of Marvel and the expansion of superheroes from Ubermench to complicated characters.
Highly recommended because of the rarity of such studies on superheroes and disability culture.
Contains: discussion of violence, rape, and war

A must have reference book with abundant colour plates and illustrations.

It is the book I've been waiting for to help me understand the construction and design of jacquard woven textiles. A well written reference book with precise, articulate, analysis and abundantly illustrated, rich luscious colour plates, it was hard to put this book down. This is no mere coffee table book. It could very well be considered a text book for the serious post secondary textile student, as will enlighten any fibre enthusiast - whether amateur or professional. It's one of the must have books for any lover of textiles - designer, historian, scientist, anthropologist or weaver. The chapter on fabric analysis was clear with helpful instructions. Explanations of woven structures and assorted looms is woven through it. It clarifies the process of digital jacquard and industrial weaving. The considerations that must be addressed when designing such textiles is aptly outlined.The photographs of the assorted textiles - both historical and contemporary, such as damasks, compound weave structures, figured velvets, double weave, and lampas for instance are masterfully photographed. The jacquard woven textiles of many well known and respected fibre artists and designers are featured. Hardly a page lacks an illustration and/or photograph which makes it more compelling and enthralling. I loved this book and I know I will go back to it over and over again!

A Brilliant Book for the Modern Textile Designer

This is a brilliant book about digital jacquard design. It discusses the history of Jacquard and the revolutionary digital jacquard loom, which allows each thread to be controlled on it's own. Hugely innovative technology! The author goes into great detail about how to create a beautiful well-structured design and aesthetics of repeat. With excellent guidance and inspiration on the subject.

I myself am a textile designer and work on these digital looms. It is interesting to note that with the technology and freedom of these digital jacquard looms knowledge of structure is lost, because you can weave and program anything now. A structure on a digital loom is simply either a black or white pixel, up or down, 010101... It’s easy to experiment. But the understanding of structure is no longer in the education system of textile design, what Julie is preserving is this incredibly vast knowledge of visual and technical structure.

This book is a necessary tool for the modern textile designer. We have the digital jacquard loom, which can do anything and now we have this incredible book by Julie Holyoke, which explains Jacquard so brilliantly. She is preserving textile history yet encouraging innovation and experimentation.

A must have for every weavers bench!!

Beautiful and well executed

Julie Holyoke is the first to really attack the understanding of designing figured textiles. It is a beautifully crafted book with lovely images and examples and well as detailed and researched chapters that explore all the nuances of the field. As a jacquard weaver and textile instructor it will be invaluable to my process and that of my students. I am relieved to finally have a text available to illustrate the work I do and that allows me to reference the works to come.

In the modern view, private law is understood as a method for achieving certain social goals. As such, it can be overlooked by political philosophy. For the traditional view, on the other hand, private law is of central philosophical importance, because it is there that we observe a society's enunciation of its most fundamental political and legal values. Arguing that an understanding of the traditional view is essential to an understanding of private law and political life, this book highlights how the modern conception is seriously distorting in this regard.

A story unfolds throughout the chapters: the story of the growth and decline of the traditional view in political and legal thought. It challenges the modern fixation with the state, arguing for a return to the traditional view of legal and political community.

Allan Beever is a Professor of Law at the University of South Australia. He has previously taught or held visiting positions at the Universities of Ottawa, Southampton, Durham, the Max-Planck-Institut fur auslandisches und internationales Privatrecht, Hamburg, and the University of Auckland. His research focuses on the theory of tort law and the law of obligations more widely, on political and legal theory, and on the history of philosophy.
