Don't Waste Your Time OR Money.

First, let me start off by saying this is a short story.
I wasn't paying attention when I purchased this book and I was VERY disappointed when the book ended so suddenly because their relationship was just beginning.
With that said, I think this story would be a good introduction for a full length novel (with some changing of a few details included).

On to the review... SPOILERS INCLUDED.
This novel seems rushed, unrealistic at some parts.

For example:
1. Anika was dead set on losing her virginity before she turned 30... for what purpose?
I didn't understand her sudden rush and her willingness to pick ANY man for the job.
Why did she have to be so desperate?
Her reasoning didn't match her desperation (2).

2. Anika's reasoning for wanting to lose her virginity didn't make any sense to me.
You're sick of being up tight so you decide the only way to loosen up is to give it up... to ANYBODY?
Loosen up by changing up your hair, or buy a freakum dress, or wax your vagina... do something different.
I just didn't understand why she went so drastic with it.

3. You're sick of being hurt and lied to by men so you decide to open your legs to any loser that steps to you?
Wouldn't being hurt and lied to cause you to keep your legs close even more?

4. Anika seemed to want to lose her virginity to someone who she would never and could never have feelings for; why didn't she contact one of her ex's?
I mean she wasn't looking for a relationship or a guy with standards; she wanted a booty call.
I think it may have been safer to hit up a guy you've dealt with in the past and have some sort of history with instead of some new d*ck.

5. She was supposed to be uptight and a girl that followed the rules, why would you risk your safety looking for random stray d*ck!?!
Was she not afraid of STDs?
I just found it weird that she was the uptight kind but didn't think twice about her health... condoms don't protect everything 100% of the time.

6. Anika was supposedly a diehard Sixer's fan; how come she didn't realize and recognize Travon's cousin Kwan in the club? Kwan was the rookie player for the Sixers (her favorite team) and she didn't realize who he was?
In my opinion, if you're a huge fan of any team, you track at least the main players and Kwan was one of them.
This wasn't a huge detail in the storyline but it rubbed me the wrong way.

The main thing that I HATED was that Treyvon (Trey) told her that he had very strong feelings for her and that he could fall in love with her and she was STILL trying to avoid him because she liked him too much???!
THAT DROVE ME CRAZY!
This man has been pursing you and being open and honest with you but you're scared to have a real relationship with him because you like him too much?
What woman in her right mind do you know would not try to pursue a relationship with a drop dead sexy, employed, funny, independent man that's crazy about you and that you've ALREADY SLEPT WITH?
I've never heard of that... never.

With all that said, I would not recommend this book because it's so incomplete in my eyes.
Like I stated earlier, I think this could be used as an introduction to a full length novel with a few changes and edits.
I would give it 0 stars, but I can't.

Not My Favorite

You can tell this was a book she wrote and forgot about and found on her computer. This was not as good as Ms. Daniels other books that I've read & I didn't enjoy this book at all. I haven't read the other book that she said this was kind of like and or will remind you of but I know this book was a disappointment.

You want to do what?

Normally I enjoy reading Angies books, but this one I just plain did not like. I mean why on earth would a person go trolling in a club to find a man to help her lose her viginity? That was just too creepy for words. Then,the main character sets her sights on a man or should I say boy that's even "Greener" then she is. When that doesn't work, she ends up with his cousin or self appointed bodyguard. I think this story was just too rushed and just ended too quickly. The author must had to pull something out quickly in order to meet a deadline. My advice use your money for another one of her other books. This one just wasn't worth the money, the time or the download.

Fun to read but super short

The "book" is composed by 3 essays. The first one is the longest while the second one is the shortest (about 1.5 pages). While the first two essays are really fun to read and I could relate very well to them, i felt the third one was just a repetition of the ideas already written in the first ones. I just felt it to be kind of a filler.

When I finished I just wanted it to be longer and talk about other topics that men encounter throughout their lives. If you want to spend 3 bucks for a 20min reading go ahead but I think there would be lengthier readings for the same price.

With a juicy title and a black cover I thought I was buying something scandalous. While I did enjoy reading the book because it was so relatable and funny, I felt like it was any article I read for free on thought catalog. You do help a young writer out by buying this but being a broke college student myself I think I'll pass on the rest of their online books.

seems to me this book should be read by straights as well as gays. it will open everybody's eyes to aspects of gay sex facts that (I suspect) not even the hardest hitting of gay activists is aware of.well written, and in a breezy, train of consciousness, approach.easy to read and full of detail.

Shattered Senses

I was a little leery about reading Shattered Alliance. The last book left us with the JC2 team under control of Genesis and everything going to hell. Worse, for me, no one had written any reviews with spoilers yet. I love spoilers even though I don't like to spoil others. Still, I decided to just start the book, read a couple of chapters, and take a break if the action got too intense. Instead, I stayed up well past my bedtime to read it all in one shot.

I love the moments we get with just Starr and Black. I love that they manage to get the JC2 team back. I hate that Black seems to be so out of his element at times. You realize that this guy is actually really young. And it shows by some of his decisions. I felt in the last book, The Sound of Truth, that the main plot was wrapped up nicely even though the on-going one was still, well, on-going. In Shattered Alliance we end with almost everything up in the sir. JC2 has been rescued, but poor Parker is put into a craptastic situation. And, in saving the JC2 team, Black has made himself the prime target of the Captain. You know that, even though Black thinks he can handle him, it is all going to turn to sh*t.

This series is so full of horrible people doing horrible things.It makes me anxious. However, it is still a wild ride that draws me in and I can't stop until I reach the end. I know I will read the next one, even though I'll probably need cuddles and unicorns and fluff afterword, because I NEED to know how it all ends.

You definitely need to read the other books in the Juxtapose City series before reading this one. There are a lot of things in this book that will spoil the earlier books for you.

Another winner in the series!

After the last book I was afraid, that the series can’t keep its high standard. The Sound Of Truth was my highlight of this series and I thought, the following book could not come anywhere close to this experience. But I was wrong.

In Shattered Alliance there’s a new player in the game, the Silent Sentinels, a group, who wants to wipe out all telepaths and tries to play off Black against Genesis. With Black’s secret unveiled in the previous book, Black and Calyx are on the run, from the police, from Genesis, the Silent Sentinels and even the Silent City.

All that leads to kind of a showdown at the end of the book and a mild cliffhanger. I hate cliffhanger!!! *gahh* Black thinks, he’s able to handle the situation, but I’m not so convinced, judging from everything that went awry in the past. Once again, I wanted to strangle Captain Dickerson and now that Black has incurred his wrath, I’m very worried about Black.

I’m a sucker for tortured heroes – or in Black’s case more of an antihero, considering his criminal past – but I also adore Calyx. He made me laugh so hard again, it was hilarious.

You also feel the love between Black and Calyx, even if it’s not always sunshine and roses between them in this book. Both are willing to risk their lives to keep the other one safe and sometimes it’s very close.

I’m sure that I’m in this series ‘til the end and I can’t wait to read the next book.

You have to read the books in order to understand and appreciate the whole story.

Pulse pounding must read series!

I’m a bookaholic and this is one of the best series I’ve read with the perfect balance of urban fantasy, suspense and romance. The world created is both creative and believable, full of incredible multi-layered characters that bring the story to life. Juxtapose City is a hot bed of humans and psypaths (people with various psychic powers including telepathy, empathy, and telekinesis), full of civil unrest and edging the brink of war between the two classes. I don’t want to spoil anything but we finally get to see some of Dickerson’s true colors (so does Sundhill), Black faces off with Genesis (and has to rescue Starr once again), also new players with familiar faces join in and stir the pot of unrest. Juxtapose City and the Silent City both remain places where trust is hard to find and love is a rare and precious gift, one Black especially learns worth fighting for! Of course there is a cliffhanger from Hell that left me groaning and anxious for the next book (hopefully it is quick so I can stop holding my breath!). This is a stand out addition to an enthralling series and will leave you wanting more, I highly recommend it, however, definitely start with the first as these are not standalones.

About the Author
Matthew Morris has worked with the Oracle database since 1996 when he worked in the RDBMS support team for Oracle Support Services. Employed by Oracle for over eleven years in support and development positions, Matthew was an early adopter of the Oracle Certified Professional program. He was one of the first one hundred Oracle Certified Database Administrators (version 7.3) and was also in the first hundred to become an Oracle Certified Forms Developer. In the years since, he has upgraded his Database Administrator certification for releases 8i, 9i, 10G and 11G, and added the Application Express Expert and the Oracle SQL Expert certifications. Outside of Oracle, he has CompTIA certifications in Linux+ and Security+. Matthew is an experienced Database Administrator and PL/SQL developer and has been creating Web applications with Oracle Application Express since the early days of its release. He is currently employed as a Database Engineer with Computer Sciences Corporation developing enterprise applications.

Can be better

This book has all the contents of Oracle APEX but doesn't go much deep in explaining. As stated by author, this book is mostly for the users with prior knowledge of APEX.
It has some good details, but I feel the overall content is inadequate. It doesn't specify what kind of approach is needed to prepare for exam.

Winogrand (192884) belongs to a group of early explorers of that borderland between documentary and art photography, sharing space with Robert Frank, Lee Friedlander, and Diane Arbus and building on the work of Walker Evans and Weegee. Yet despite a 1988 retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art and a huge influence on a younger generation of art photographers, he remains underappreciated by the general public. Hopefully, this lavish publication, concentrating on his most important body of work, the street scenes, will begin to change that. Winogrand took the workaday street tableau and revealed there an intensity and humanity as clear as in any image in a museum. The majority of the 107 photos capture New York in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and they now serve the purpose of a time capsule. Not Bad For A Million Rolls of Film!

Gary Winogrand was the type of photographer who had a very itchy camera trigger finger. When he died he left behind around 10,000 rolls of undeveloped film. If it moved he photographed it. Did he shoot so many good pictures simply because he took such an unbelievably large number of them, i.e. if you take a million shots aren't you bound statistically to get at least a thousand good ones? Good question, yet GW is one of my favorite people. If you like street photography with insight and humor he is almost unbeatable. These are candid portraits that catch people gawking, staring, laughing, having fun, showing pain, and often being oblivious to everything around them. Gary was not shy; he thrust his camera right into people's faces, and caught them in off guard moments. A man crawls along a sidewalk unnoticed by a group of American Legionnaires. Another man walks nude through a crowd without attracting much attention at all. Another man walks through a crowd carrying an immense poster of the Beatles. Why is he doing this; where is he going? A man with a bandaged nose stares strangely at his female passenger as he drives along. Is he angry with her or is he perhaps lusting after her. You decide.
It takes you forever to get through this book as you sit and look at each picture for a long, long time. How revealing are the faces, the postures, and the gestures; each shot prompts you to weave a story around the captured event. Winogrand seems to be made up of equal portions of Elliott Erwitt, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus, and Andre Kertesz (if you are unfamiliar with any of these folks, and you like Winogrand, you had better check them out). The saddest thing is that almost all of Winogrand's books are out of print. This is a breathtaking collection of his work.

I am a street photographer existing in my own vacuum until I found the book Facing New York by Bruce Gilden and now this work by Garry Winogrand. I love the genre, the theft of a slice of life as it occurs on our streets. Reality ends up being the perfect casting director for a visual of modern America. Winogrand's work is beautiful in its simplicity and I realize my goal is to follow in his path. A very important photographer for me.

I love these books!

The English File series is excellent for teaching English as a second language. I've used it both in the British and American versions and I love it. The texts are engaging and the topics lead to communication in the class. The focus in phonetics, that is not found in many ESL books, helps students learn the correct pronunciation easily and the way the phonemic alphabet is presented, prepares them to look up the pronunciation of new words in the dictionary when they are not in class.

I loved this book because it has helped me a lot in my learning process. The same features activities easy to understand and dynamics. However, the lack of responses commented exercises to be an EXCELLENT book.

A Little Honesty About 10th vs. 11th...

The 9th, 10th and 11th editions of this incredible textbook are all unexpected gems, particularly for self study. I'm an Engineer and in addition to robotics in the classroom, I design educational animations around various math, chemistry, physics, etc. formulas.

The astonishing thing about this textbook is that, although it is purportedly a Social Psych text, the pedagogy is centered around intelligent learners - students (frankly, I also look at this from the viewpoint of AI!) designing, testing and implementing their own learning strategies. Again unabashedly, it outshines MANY if not MOST Educational Psych and Instructional Design texts from this viewpoint alone!

Now the bad stuff. Like many publishers, new editions are regularly churned out, and students pay the price. As I evaluated the 10th vs. 11th editions side by side, I can't sincerely agree with reviewers who dismiss this new fine gem offhand as "the same." It simply ISN'T if you check the references, studies and bib, There are NUMEROUS updates with more current research, and many new web resources.

But the big BUT. Although the differences are far from cosmetic, they ARE generally academic. The next dimension is to take them in the context of price, where you can get a like new/ good used 10th for 10 bucks US vs. paying $130 to $180 for EITHER 10th or 11th new!!! I don't know about you, but I'm on a budget, and that is far from a trivial difference in price. However, if you HAVE a choice, I unhesitatingly recommend the 10 edition instead, from an Amazon or Abe books third party, especially for self study. For requirements, there also is the rental option in addition to the sell backs.

NOTE: I would expand the potential audience for either of these outstanding editions to ANYONE with an interest in online or classroom education and tutorials. The pedagogic material is so well done, you can use it as an instructional design template for MANY of your other topics, as I do in my limited case of learning STEM via animation and robotics. Highly Recommended with above constraints! You can't go wrong with either, let your budget be your guide!

About the Author
Scott A. Snell is the E. Thayer Bigelow Professor of Business Administration at Darden School of Business, where he teaches courses in Leadership and Strategic Management. Prior to joining the Darden faculty in 2007, Scott was professor and director of executive education at Cornell University's Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies, and a professor of management in the Smeal College of Business at Pennsylvania State University. Scott's research focuses on strategic human resource management. He was recently listed among the top 150 most-cited scholars in the field of management. He has worked with a number of Fortune 500 companies in the United States and Europe to align investments in talent and strategic capability. Scott is co-author of four books: Managing Human Resources, Management: Leading and Collaborating in a Competitive World, M: Management and Managing People and Knowledge in Professional Service Firms. Scott has served on the boards of: the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation, the Academy of Management's Human Resource Division, the Human Resource Management Journal, the Academy of Management Journal, and the Academy of Management Review.

George Bohlander is Professor Emeritus of Management at Arizona State University, where he taught human resources and labor relations classes. He received six outstanding teaching awards, including the Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award presented by the College of Business, and the ASU Parents Association Teaching Award given annually by the university. Dr. Bohlander has published more than 50 articles and monographs in professional and practitioner journals, such as National Productivity Review, HR Magazine, Employee Relations Law Journal, The Journal of Collective Bargaining in the Public Sector, and Labor Law Journal. He is also a consultant to public and private organizations and an active labor arbitrator. He received his M.B.A. from the University of Southern California and his Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Really informative book

I know that this is a text book, and as a HR major I was required to buy this book. the thing is that if my when my professor tells us to refer to the book i am glad that I bought this. For a person just staring out in the study of HR I would say this is a good starting point and that honestly I can see myself keeping this when I actually start my career just as a primer.
