This book is a diary of a young architect, a struggle against conformism and narrow-mindedness, a strife for understanding and expressing unbiassed ideas. The author incorporated the cultural heritage from the 'Seven Arts' in his search for the meaning of architecture and planning today. Problems such as freedom, limitations, criteria for a good design and the place of the architect in our complex society - are the main themes along this Interim Report. It is not a new '-ism', nor a text book, neither a source from which to obtain ideas for design, but is the confession of a creative and sensitive being searching for a place where its professional conscience could find its own rights resonance.

"This book is in the form of an illustrated diary of an Israeli architect's experiences and reflections over the past 15 years, from the time he started training in Israel until the present day. He is now working there.The book has a freshness reminiscent of the early works of Le Corbusier. There is the same quick grasp of essentials, illustrated with freehand diagrams, photographs and his own designs; the same astonishment that the rest of the world - especially the architects - can be stupid enough not to appreciate his hard-won conceptions; the same battling with the establishment, disgust with their mishandling of competitions, and the failure of their juries to appreciate his own schemes. But he has made the most of his opportunities.With grants which have taken him to Japan and the United States, he has kept his eyes open, developed his perceptions, and put together, with lucidity and a gentle humour, a critical indictment of architectural education and the world of architecture. He gives hints of an attitude to current planning problems which only awaits careful elaboration by himself and the profession.
